Her parents were archeologists by trade, and were employed as Ash Diggers, wandering the deserts of Utopia III, looking for the last relics of the Jovians who had lived there before them. Nikita took well to the rough and tumble street life of Damnation, and by YC 98 had earned a place of moderate status within a local gang, the Zretkrekov Runners. When the Angel Cartel came recruiting, she and most of the Runners were swept up into their ranks. Nikita's clever and inquisitive mind, her ruthless attitude, and her capsuleer genes quickly earned her a place of status within the criminal group.

Nikita became a pilot within the cartel, although details are very scarce as to what that entailed, she is believed to have held the rank of captain within the cartel military structure. She served the cartel in that manner for six years when she was nearly executed after a major incident where most of her unit was destroyed. As a chance to redeem herself, she was entered into the MIASMA project. The project was a sleeper agent project pioneered by Devan Ormiklees, one of the top researchers in the cartel. A mindwipe was performed and she was crafted a perfect history, perfect credentials, and the best disguise that could be given: One that the person was unaware they were wearing. She served her two years, and entered the capsuleer training program, where she spent another two years, all while secretly performing reconnaissance and espionage for the Cartel. On May 19th, as part of a Cartel investigation into Sansha's Nation, Nikita attempted to hack into Nation unit SlaveTama01 during an attack on Haliama. While the operation was partially successful, Nikita was exposed to an infomorph virus while attempting to penetrate the Nation pilot's Intrusion Countermeasures layer. Over the course of the next few hours, the virus attempted to subvert her loyalty. While initial treatment prevented this from happening, she remained infected, the virus resisting attempts at eradication. Interactions between the virus and Ormiklees' conditioning resulted in erratic behavior on Nikita's part, with those close to her gradually becoming aware of the changes wrought by the MIASMA project.

Soon after this, Nikita was tasked with delivering a rogue drone nexus which had been discovered on the surface of Zimmem X to a hidden Cartel stargate in Finid. While initial treatment prevented this from happening, she remained infected, the virus resisting attempts at eradication. Interactions between the virus and Ormiklees' conditioning resulted in erratic behavior on Nikita's part, with those close to her gradually becoming aware of the changes wrought by the MIASMA project.

Soon after this, Nikita was tasked with delivering a rogue drone nexus which had been discovered on the surface of Zimmem X to a hidden Cartel stargate in Finid. Through the actions of the virus, the Nation became aware of this, and attempted to subvert her loyalties to secure the nexus for themselves. The nexus proved to be both unusual and fully functional, seizing the opportunity presented by her weakened state of mind to gain control of her, destroying both the virus and Ormiklees' conditioning in the process. It forced her to alter course in what is theorized was an attempt to return the nexus to a nearby drone hive. Cartel chase ships, including one commanded by Devan Ormiklees, gave pursuit, and boarded her ship. They managed to regain control, wiping the nexus and returning Nikita's hidden memories to her.

==Current Status==

With the sleeper agent project terminated, Nikita appears to have returned to the Cartel, remaining an independent capsuleer working for them through the Risen Angels. CONCORD has authorized the beginnings of a criminal investigation. The status of this investigation is currently classified.

==History==

Little is known of Utopia III's long and varied history, as the seat of the second Jovian Empire. What is known is that when the Jovians left on their motherships they left millions of their own people stranded on the surface. They then, in what historians believe they saw as an act of mercy, destroyed their cities from orbit. The powerful and mysterious weapons of the Jovians reduced vast swaths of land to glass, turning entire cities to ash, and darkening the skies for decades.

Centuries later, the first settlers arrived from Empire space. Far from the oversight of any governmental body, Utopia III was a haven for criminals escaping the law, and the numerous, small cities that grew up dotting the wastelands were run by mob rule, survival of the toughest. Those settling there were the desperate, those who had simply had no where else to got found refuge. No questions were asked of the history of those living there, and it in fact, became a local insult to inquire about the past of anyone there. The quiet acceptance of people from all walks of life made it almost a refuge for the lost souls of New Eden.

When the Angel Cartel took control of the system, they claimed Utopia III as their domain. Following established policies, they left the governing of the planet to local warlords, with Cartel direct control limited to collection of tariffs as well as recruiting from the planetary population. To the average planetsider, Utopia III has been as it always has been: rough, and harsh, but rewarding for those who chose to make it their homes.

==Geography==

Utopia III is fairly dry, despite large oceans, the weather is mild, leaving much of the world without precipitation. The plants covering the green areas of the surface are hardy and persistent, mostly grasslands, rough, small forests, scrub lands, and deserts. The seas and skies are stained with murk from the unregulated industries of the world, and the deserts are all slightly darkened with the ashes of the Jovian civilization, and large plates of glass from the detonation of massive weapons still scar the surface.

==Industry==

The major industry of Utopia III is mining, with extensive exports of raw and mildly processed metallic ores. Large pit mines with cities rimming them cover the surface of the world like open wounds, and massive vehicles called crawlers roam the surface, consuming everything in their path.

Many independent explorers wander the deserts and plains of Utopia III, earning their meals collecting small scraps of Jovian technology and selling them in open air markets.

==Impressions==

A very tall, slender woman with an athletic low-gravity build, and an often abrasive or aggressive personality. She favors a hard [http://wiki.eveonline.com/wikiEN/images/a/a1/Shinbio.jpg "Gallentean rock" style of dress she adopted during her years at the Center for Advanced Studies].

Her voice is not high pitched, she sings in a contralto or mezzo-soprano range, and her voice carries a certain roughness to it. She has a soft accent, which becomes more pronounced if she is under strain or intoxicated.

Shintoko Akahoshi (Kaika Arahoi'i) was born in YC 79 in [[Akahoshi asteroid]], Luminaire. Like all inhabitants of that colony, she is a tube child and was raised in a creche along with three other children of the same age. Pre-screening suggested she would be a candidate for pod pilot training, and she left the colony to study at the Center for Advanced Studies in Cistuvaert on a colony scholarship. She graduated from the center in YC 105 and received her pilot's license in YC 106. Records indicate she was a competent but uninspired student. During her CAS years, she performed as a singer in the Gallente rock band ''Pulile Empoisonnée''. The band developed a small but devoted following until its breakup following the graduation of Shintoko and the lead guitarist, Leon Tirouan.

In YC 107, she engaged in non-CONCORD-sanction warfare against a minor Caldari corporation, destroying several ships and killing one pilot. She then joined the Jericho Fraction as a combat pilot, participating in several major wars. Records from this period are unclear, largely due to her absence from CONCORD regulated space. Main points of data from this period include a notice of revocation of citizenship in the Gallente Federation, as well as regular transfers of money to her home colony.

At some point during this time, she became active as an operative of the Caldari corporation Omerta Syndicate. Public records of this period are contradictory and unclear, though they suggest her participation in Omerta Syndicate bioengineering programs. During this time, her home colony was financed to the degree allowing them to establish a second colony in the Tierijev pocket.

==Background==

Shintoko Akahoshi (Kaika Arahoi'i) was born in YC 79 in [[Akahoshi asteroid]], Luminaire. Like all inhabitants of that colony, she is a tube child and was raised in a creche along with three other children of the same age. Pre-screening suggested she would be a candidate for pod pilot training, and she left the colony to study at the Center for Advanced Studies in Cistuvaert on a colony scholarship. She graduated from the center in YC 105 and received her pilot's license in YC 106. Records indicate she was a competent but uninspired student.

In YC 107, she engaged in non-CONCORD-sanction warfare against a minor Caldari corporation, destroying several ships and killing one pilot. She then joined the Jericho Fraction as a combat pilot, participating in several major wars. Records from this period are unclear, largely due to her absence from CONCORD regulated space. Main points of data from this period include a notice of revocation of citizenship in the Gallente Federation, as well as regular transfers of money to her home colony.

At some point during this time, she became active as an operative of the Caldari corporation Omerta Syndicate. Public records of this period are contradictory and unclear, though they suggest her participation in Omerta Syndicate bioengineering programs. During this time, her home colony was financed to the degree allowing them to establish a second colony in the Tierijev pocket.

After the collapse of Omerta Syndicate, she retired as a pilot to live at the Tierijev colony. She left the colony in late YC 112, operating in a minor capacity first in Caldari and later in Minmatar space.

==Medical Notes==

Like all [[Akahoshi asteroid|Arahoi'i]], Shin possesses no natural immune system, and has undergone medical treatment for immune deficiencies, including the creation of an artificial immune system. This treatment frequently results in allergies as a side effect. She has a fairly severe contact allergy to about 15% of the general population, mostly true Amarr. She habitually wears thin gloves to help mitigate this, and always carries a small treatment kit with her.

==A Note on Language==

The Akahoshi colony uses a spoken and written dialect of Tuapa'ani, a minor language spoken in the Tierijev pocket. The sole high quality translation software for this language translates into Achura. Incompatibilities between the Achura and Tuap'ani result in the software Achurizing proper names, resulting in early Gallentean records of the colony using these Achurized names. Inhabitants of the colony frequently make use of Achurized names.
