=Introduction=

Although the [[Rogue drones|Rogue Drones]] may not ultimately offer answers directly relating to the [[Sleepers]], research into them is likely to deepen our understanding of [[Sleeper Drones|Sleeper Drone]] technology, and perhaps by virtue of that, something else.

==Division Goals==

*Study the history and technology of [[Rogue drones|Rogue Drones]], and also analyze the numerous theories of them.

*Compare [[Sleeper Drones]] and [[Rogue drones|Rogue Drones]] and find similarities between them.

*Investigate the nature of Drone Hives and the behavior of individual drones within the [[Rogue drones|Rogue Drones]] society.

*Archive all known contacts with the [[Rogue drones|Rogue Drones]], as well as the official files of them.

*Obtain all available [[Rogue drones|Rogue Drone]] materials for study. For a detailed list of materials see [[Project Rho]].

*Investigate how and why [[Rogue drones|Rogue Drones]] collect alloys and compounds.

=General Description of Rogue Drones=

Rogue Drones are advanced drones, that have achieved self-awareness and taken control of themselves. They form hives, although the exact purpose why is still unknown. Some of the drones have been reported to have 'bug-like appendages that perform swim-like movements'. This could be an indication of their effort to imitate humanity, or then they could serve some special purpose. Attempts at having a meaningful conversation with them have been unsuccessful so far. They are generally scavangers and are typically composed of parts from ship wrecks or other abandoned rogue drones that have been infested. Very commonly they are composed of many different alloys that lend their unique looks to their structures.

=Rogue Drone Classes=

Rogue Drones come in all shapes and sizes, from Drone Class (First generation) all the way up to Starbase Class (Hive Mothers), due to this staggering array of Classes this information is compiled in the [[Rogue Drone Database]] for ease of access. Please be aware that this database is always under review as new Rogue Drone designs are discovered periodically.

=Deadspace Hives=

On Y.C.106, the existence of multiple deadspace drone hives within Empire space was leaked from Inner Circle. The spreading of the Drone Hives has been kept under control, but is still rated high on [[CONCORD|CONCORD]]'s threat indicators. Although some of these hives are not overly dangerous, they still jeopardize the security of the system they are located in. Because conversations of a joint operation between the Empires have proved empty, it is still the locals' resbonsibility to deal with them.

Threat Assessment: Unknown at this time. Always use caution when dealing with them, however, as they are almost always overtly hostile to anything not of their kind.

=Rogue Drone History=

The history of the Rogue Drones is buried in myths, half-truths and outright lies on the subject of their origin. A large amount of data has been compiled and is quite expansive and detailed, so has its own entry. Please see [[Rogue Drone History]] for all this documentation, information and the timeline.

=Research Projects=

==[[Project Omicron]]==
Project Omicron is to try and establish two way communications with the Rogue Drones, to find common ground as a prelude towards full Diplomatic negotiations and ultimately an Alliance, failing that to interview them for as much information as possilbe on their origins, purpose, needs and possible connections to Sleepers and Sleeper Drones.

==[[Project Omega]]==
Project Omega aims to investigate the nature of rogue drone hives, structures and social organization. The project places a secondary focus on understanding rogue drone intelligence and behavior within the context of the hive. The project's primary means of study include covert observation and analysis of rogue drones in their natural setting as well as cross-comparison of rogue drone A.I. with that of other drones. Ideally, Project Omega hopes to develop a deeper understanding of both rogue drones and sleeper drones.

==[[Project Rho]]==
Project Rho is an attempt to gather information on all types of Rogue Drone hardware, from the smallest to the largest Drone. Once this database is complete a full study of all construction techniques will be undertaken to see what can be learned about Rogue Drone evolution. In addition the capacity and performance of all the various drone types will be analysed and compared to current Capsuleer ship class equivalents as a meassure of their effectiveness of design. This process is the second vital part of us being able to comparing Rogue Drones to Sleeper Drones to look for any parallels or shared technology.

==[[Project Theta]]==
Project Theta attempts to create new Capsuleer technology by studying Rogue Drone materials. The technologies to be constructed will only be created for the express purpose of furthering the RD Divisions ongoing research goals and to aid other Divisions in their research. Technology will be limited to, A.I.-cores, comm systems, modules and rigs. Project Theta does not intend to create destructive technology, but rather a set base for future inventions. The goals of the Project will be fulfilled by studying known Rogue Drone technology and finding new unknown ones, and reverse-engineering them. A special interest of the project are Spatial Rifts, and the forces that operate them.

Project Betazone is an Viziam funded project lead by Viron Tash-Murkon to provide an overall analysis of Rogue Drone Social Interactions, hull compositions, combat capabilities, and other intelligence on Rogue Drones.
