Physical Characteristics

Extremely slight of build, Katin is not physically imposing in the slightest. They stand at an unimpressive height and lack any muscle to speak of. Blind since birth, their eyes are both a pale white. They tend to wear baggy clothes in an attempt to hide their build.

Personality

Competitive and and brash, Katin is unlikely to make many friends in a professional space. Outside of that, they are a friendly and well meaning individual. Easily distracted and prone to rambling, they struggle with normal conversation away from topics of their interest.

A devout Wayist, they meditate daily, often making trips to Landfall Shrine to do so when in The Forge. They rarely broadcast their beliefs, and tend to avoid answering direct questions about them.

History

Prenatal History

In late YC95 a small biotech firm was granted funding from Kaalakiota Corporation with the goal of creating a batch of children that could serve as analysts for the Caldari State. The program would eventually be considered a failure, producing less than twenty viable subjects, most of which suffered birth defects and illnesses that led to short and unhappy lives.

The surviving subjects, few as there were, found success. Becoming military and financial analysts, many were fast tracked through advanced education programs, and due to their known genetic compatibility with the Capsule, received early pod training.

Katin Tanamioja was born YC99.04.06 as part of batch #014. Anomalies were noted early into gestation, but were ignored due to the known failings of the program, and the belief that recent alterations to the base would provide trade-offs for the defects, as well as the programs dwindling funds.

Early Life

Tanamioja was born without functioning eyes, and at an abnormally low weight. Requiring direct medical attention, their prognosis was poor for the first year of their life. Their physical development lagged tremendously behind their peers, however their mental development was above baseline for their batch. Initially, they were scheduled for vision augmentation to fully restore their sight, however the decision was made to not fully restore sight in the subject. Their augmentations would process visual stimulus and feed it to their brain directly as non-visual information. This experiment proved successful. Katin quickly learned to read and write, catching up to and quickly surpassing their peers in their assigned creche.

Education

When it became obvious to the researchers that they had produced a successful subject, Katin was transferred to an advanced education facility operated by a Kaalakiota subsidiary. The details of the program remain a closely guarded secret, but are known to be grueling. Focusing on producing capsule compatible and high resilient analysts to serve the interests of the State, the program stretches from early childhood to adulthood, after which a successful candidate will find themselves a Capsuleer.

The program has received criticism for its high cost and low success rate. Many of the graduates simply fall off the map, failing to serve the State as independent Capsuleers as intended by the program. Rates of piracy and sedition are high among graduates, leading to critics to claim that the program fails to properly instill loyalty in subjects, and fosters resentment of duty.

Katin graduated YC118.05.15 with high marks, and was considered by defenders of the program to be a exemplification of its merits.

Career

Katin's duties largely consisted of independent analysis of market trends in Jita, Amarr, and Dodixie. Given a small amount to trade with in their downtime as a wage, they quickly amassed a private fortune station trading in Jita. This fortune would be used to invest in various side projects, many of which would see low-returns or complete failures. Preferring to see the markets as an arena, and other traders as their enemies, they aggressively moved tens of billions of isk in assets each day, often at very low margins. Their preferred assets included a wide variety of faction ships, primarily cruisers and battleships, that could be updated actively to guarantee flow of stock. This style of trading gained them a reputation among other traders, and many industrialists, as a force to be reckoned with in the niche.

Contact from their employer would slow through YC120, ceasing completely by YC121. Without a goal, they traveled extensively, briefly attempting to replicate their market successes in Amarr and Dodixie, however without a guiding factor their interest waned. By YC122 they had become inactive in the capsuleer markets.

Post Employment

Their substantial fortune was enough for them to exist in relative luxury for their period of inactivity, occasionally appearing publicly in casinos around Jita 4-4, usually to either win or lose massive amounts of isk, much to the amusement of onlookers. They gained a reputation for competitive holo-gaming, enjoying a brief and very successful career in the field.

Heart-of-the-Forest Resource Acquisition

Tanamioja remained reclusive until mid YC124, when they re-emerged in Jita 4-4. Apparently reinvigorated, they began trading actively in a variety of commodities. Despite having far less capital, they have begun trading aggressively.
