Overview
The Bastards is a low-sec pirate corporation. Typical activities include solo pirating, small roaming gangs, ransoming and preying on targets found in mission/plex/exploration sites.
The Bastards have no desire to be the next big 0.0 alliance or gate-camping 23/7 or high-sec war declarations , even if we had the security status to allow us into High-sec! We do very little in the way of POS wars (we have no caps); little gate camping (time is too precious to waste) and station camping.
What we do is encourage solo piracy and small to medium fleets of between 5-15 ships racing around low-sec.
In addition, we run fun activities such as themed roams, Bushkazi, and treasure hunts. We are active in the Euro time zone and some US TZ coverage too. We aim to have fun and no we're not elite PvP-pilots, we're pirates and we aim to build camaraderie and have fun while doing it.
Recruitment
The Bastards is always on the look out for likely minded pirates. Not pilots who want to 'try piracy' but who have already made that decision and are just looking for the right corporation. Our recruitment details are on the web-site. Prospective members submit a detailed application and we perform a background check. Those that pass this check are interviewed by our recruitment officers who ascertain whether the prospect is a good fit as well as filling in any gaps and anomalies we have discovered in EVE-O forums, skill distribution and employment history.
Those that pass this first stage will be invited to fly with The Bastards for a period of time so that they can get to know the corp and their fit with low-security piracy. This period can be two weeks or more. It is up to the applicant to impress and for both parties to discover a good fit.
If the prospect is invited to submit an in-game application, they are accepted for a probationary period. All members are required to maintain an ongoing presence in the corporation forums and the corporation ventrilo server.
Interested applicants should review [1], then email us out-of-game with questions or the application. Details on the website.
Everyone is invited to join either the The Bastards' in-game semi-public channel "DBastards". If you act like an idiot in there; we will boot you out. The Bastards other in-game channel is called 'Independence' and is unregulated.
The Bastards History
Dastardly Bastards - The very beginning.
A few guys in RMS chat came up with the idea of going on a rifter-death type roam, and I (Silvetrys) decided to join. My intention had always been to start pirating. So we formed up a gang with me, Joe, Jeff, Boda (Feck, can't remember his name anymore), a French guy Thibaud and some random American who nobody remembers. Roamed around the Amamake area for an hour or two. Didn't really get any kills, and lost a rifter or two to a Myrm. After a while, hell I think I even had dinner in the meanwhile, we decided to go roam in 0.0, near Egbinger. On the way there we decided everyone was so much fun we needed a corp for it. I burned to the Concord Academy in Egbinger and told everyone I'd found us a corp. After a while we, Jeff and Boda IIRC, came up with the name Dastardly Bastards with the ticker being SPNKD, which was purely Jeff's idea. Everyone joined and we went off to roam The Wildlands for a bit. Got killed pretty fast IIRC.
Cooch.
I believe this was the very next day. We decided that we as a corp should build ammo for everyone, and that mining the mineral rich belts in the system would help us do this. The very first mining op began, yeah I know, it's a mining op. I flew a Hoarder and I believe we also had a Scythe with us. Due to a near total lack of experience at scanning Cooch managed to jump us with just me in the belt. Obviously, I didn't last quite long. Immediately Boda decided we should grab Rifters and kill him if he stayed. We grabbed our Rifters and were delighted to find out that he was waiting for us. The battle was quite uneventful, I died and so did Cooch. GF's were had and we were exhilarated to find such a great pirate. I believe it was the next day that we found he had posted about us on EVE-O and we all thought we were now the coolest new pirate corp in EVE.
Recruitment and Joe.
I can't remember if it took a week or even two before we got even a single recruit. Though Joe brought in huge loads of recruits, none of them quite joined. Almost had this marine corp sniper called Nikon hty, but apparently he chickened out after he found out we were in low sec. I don't think anyone even considered closing down because we couldn't recruit anyone, simply because Joe was incredible at it. Don't think we'd have gotten anywhere without the man. Then, out of the blue, Pardit Lastor joined. Strange guy, always wanted to mine in an Omen and expected everyone else to die for him. Also, he constantly tried to convince me to move to China and become an English teacher. Let's just say he didn't last very long.
The thread.
Joe started his low sec advice thread, which IIRC he called a PR trick quite often. Worked quite nicely too. Not entirely sure if Ian joined before or after it, but Andrew clearly joined right after it. Jesus, the first thing we as a corp did with Andrew was a mining op in Muttokon. Bastard must've been drunk the entire time as we were laughing our asses off for the entire op. Probably it was just the usual first day at the office thing. I believe after Alan was the first member after Ian and Andrew. Strange guy, a 14 yo cos player. Yeah, that never worked out. Johny Magellan might have been the next one, not entire sure anymore.
The first war.
Directorate's alt corp of sorts, the name of which escapes me, declared war on us. They had a Vexor and something, though Kali Jav, the Directorat CEO, helped them with his sniper Rokh. Not entirely sure if Kali actually killed any of us. We killed the Vexor with a few Thrashers and a bunch of Rifters. Don't think we actually lost any ships to them. Somebody clearly couldn't be bothered to pay 2m a week for it since the war ended after the first week with our decisive victory of one Vexor.
The corp Cane.
We mined, and we mined. Oh how much we mined for a pirate corp. It paid out though, we did get to build our first Hurricane. Not entirely sure who started the legendary build job anymore, probably either me or Jeff. Promptly sold it for 35m on the market, don't think we even moved it anywhere. Such a proud day for us. Didn't really think we'd be throwing them out like candy later on. Much later down the line Boda started flying some strange plated Canes that could, at least according to him, permatank sentries.
The second war, and the first ransom.
Cetatech industries, a small corp who were stupid enough to come and rat in Egbinger in a Cane. We promptly killed the Cane and decided we'd dec those bastards who defiled the holy Egbinger. Sent out a war dec and contacted their CEO to secure a ransom. After some negotiations with me, which went quite decently, but I needed Boda's help to get us a proper ransom, they decided to surrender before the the war had even started. I believe the ransom was all of their assets derived through ratting and everything they had in low sec. Quite a ransom you'd think, but turns out they had fuck all in low sec and the loot was worth maybe 15m. Still, it was a ransom. Ended up ransoming them for a second time later on.
The third, and final war.
Logged in one day and found out that we had a war dec going on, against a corp nobody had ever heard of, SVPP. Turns out Boda had decided they were weak targets and were worth killing. Also, these fuckers lived in Rens. Great, Boda was -10, Ian was flashy and so were Andrew and Joe. It was up to me and Johny to kick the shit out of them. We took our mighty fleet consisting of my Rifter and Johny's Arbitrator out there to kill them. Well, turns out those bastards were all 10 days old and flew Canes, and had some strange agenda of griefing some guy out of the game. Never quite understood it, but they were stupid as hell. I managed to solo one of their Canes in my Rifter, albeit that Scimitar pilot who was kind enough to help really turned the tide of the battle with me tanking 2 Canes in a lowly Rifter. Johny still lost his Arbi and I believe that was the last time we ever saw him. Such a shame to lose a great pilot without ever getting to know why he disappeared.
The alliance and the theft.
With Jeff's great push to get us to 0.0, we joined Veritas Immortalis. Not entirely sure that was such a great idea as we were the noobs of the alliance. Nonetheless, we were bold and ready for anything, and one step closer to getting a POS in 0.0. We had already figured out the fit, were considering buying the parts and felt we were totally ready for it. Turns out somebody wasn't such a huge fan of the idea. On one faithful day Boda swiped the corp hangars and dropped all roles. Should've known he'd do it sooner than later as he was a scammer through and through. Everyone was shitting their pants believing this would be the end of us. Quickly, plans were made to found the corp anew. A day later Boda logged back in and gave us our stuff back, regardless of our obvious hostility towards him. We said our farewells and Boda left us. It was up to me to tell our friends in Veritas that we would be leaving them right after joining the alliance. They were surprisingly cool about it, and we left Egbinger.
Otosela.
The new corp was to be founded in Otosela. An area we decided was superior to Egbinger in piratyness. We get there and the first thing I hear is everyone complaining about the rats being too damn hard on them... Yeah, seriously. The corp was founded, an after 4 days in Veritas we left behind their standings. After great a many complaints we decided Otosela was just not for us. Futzchag was to be our new home and from now we were to be known as The Bastards, BSTRD.
