File:Everadio.png Eve Radio (sometimes also known by its initials ER) is an Internet radio station broadcasting live music and talk to the players of CCP's Eve Online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since the game's beta period in early 2003. It streams a high quality 128kbps audio broadcast that is accessible through most software media players or the organization's website player. Eve Radio also streams video feeds from live in-game events that it puts on from time to time.

Eve Radio started as an Eve Online beta period project by a couple of ISD volunteers. After Eve Online was released, it decided to relaunch with a full working schedule in August 2003.

Since that time Eve Radio has streamed to a minimum average of 150 people and up to a peak average of over 500 simultaneous listeners. During any given 7 day period Eve Radio serves a minimum of 3000 unique listeners, making it one of the most popular MMO-themed Internet radio broadcasters in the world. Eve Radio has also co-produced and hosted several events, including the first Eve Online Alliance Tournament as well as the pilot Eve TV Alliance Tournament.

Content

Most of Eve Radio's schedule consists of music, the genre of which is typically chosen by the on air DJ at any given time. In addition, as the station's audience is primarily the Eve Online player community, on air DJs frequently host competitions (such as Pod-the-DJ) and giveaways, which may amount to billions of ISK in prize money for listeners each week.

Some shows are more or less exclusively talk and news broadcasts that are themed around current happenings in-game and in the community. Interviews with players, community organizers, and developers are not uncommon.

Eve Radio is not bound by terrestrial broadcast restrictions and exists purely on the Internet, accessible from anywhere in the world. As this is the case the on air content has been allowed to be slightly more raw. The station self-moderates and plays a listening advisory sweeper at the beginning of each show describing the target age bracket the show is designed for. Those shows that contain a "Mature" rating are ones most likely to cause offense and are unsuitable for listeners under the age of 18.

Eve Radio is a privately funded, community-led organization relying solely on donations from the listener base for operation, and has no legal ties or associations with Crowd Control Productions hf. As such CCP cannot be held accountable and takes no responsibility for the content of Eve Radio.

Events

Eve Radio holds events for the players of Eve Online frequently, almost every day. Some of the largest events and giveaways are listed forthwith.

Christmas Comes Early 2008

On 8 December 2008 Eve Radio publicly announced its Christmas promotions campaign entitled Christmas Comes Early to Eve Radio. From 15 December to 21 December 2008, Eve Radio randomly gave away the following prizes on air:

Eve Radio premiered its agent mission database during this time, a roleplayed interaction method between the station and listeners seeking to win prizes, making the competitions more interesting. 44 agent missions were prepared with complete audio sweepers for the purposes of the Christmas Comes Early 2008 promotion.

On 21 December at 2030 GMT, the prize draw for the complete Faction Battleship Model Set was made on DJ FunkyBacon's show by CCP Navigator. Cleatus Snow was the winner of the battleship set.

Christmas Comes Early 2009

On December 14, 2009, EVE Radio kicked off their annual week of holiday contests for all listeners of EVE Radio. 2009 saw the return of an improved agent mission database featuring an increase number of missions, 100 in total. The event was so anticipated that it was even announced on the official EVE Online website which can be viewed here. EVE-Radio would randomly distribute a large number of prizes, not limited to:

The finale, a reverse draw featuring 35 names collected over the week, was held on December 20 and replaced the traditionally weekly EVE-Radio Lottery at 18:00 GMT. When the names were whittled down to 10, the participants were given the option to split the prize amongst themselves or press onwards, in which case one name would be removed and the question asked again. There was, however, a small glitch in that 5 of the top 10 players were not online to participate. Instead, they were represented by a single flip of the coin. In the end, the prize would be split evenly between all 10 participants in equal parts, each receiving 2 billion ISK

List Of Finale Winners - Each award 2 billion ISK:

  • Vox Duos
  • Rashid Starfury
  • mentalmackem
  • Perle13
  • Broken Spade
  • Nora Syrinx
  • Willbeatu23
  • Stinging Hornet
  • lien yeluaccm
  • Icer Xx

Winner of the EVE Caldari Raven battleship model draw:

  • Charlie Moon77

Total prizes given away by EVE-Radio and all the individual DJ contests totalled over 70 billion ISK. This included ships, Eve Store merchandise, and a large sum of ISK.

Die, Die My Darling

One of the largest contests during the 2009 CCE was operated by DJ Moz, which ran fromDec 14 to the 17. Using a massive game board and an automated dice-roll system, players had the ability to buy entries which would be rolled and applied on the board. Slots contained prizes, and double that number were empty. When players landed on a space that was already claimed they had a chance to knock the other player off. However, the chance of being knocked off of a prize was much lower than an empty space.

DJ Moz distributed 25 billion ISK worth in prizes. Prizes included one of every faction ship, full sets of +4 and +5 implants, donated BPCs, and an entry into the final CCE draw.

A complication arose before the contest ended when the EVE API system went down, preventing the automated system from pulling new entries and applying them to the board. DJ Moz was required to do the entries by hand and took until the following Monday to get the board finalized and prizes distributed.
