The Huzzah Federation was formed from the remnants of the Coalition of Free Stars in late 2004. It currently operates in and around The Syndicate region. It is an independent multi-ethnic alliance and is run as a benign dictatorship.

Aims

Originally the alliance was closely allied to the Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA), and set out to give empire-dwellers access to 0.0 space in Providence. In keeping with the objectives of PIE's "Operation Deliverance" it was strictly anti-pirate and most of it's members belonged to industrial corporations.

Towards the end of 2005 these aims changed to reflect the more aggressive approach preached by the then President, Hans Roaming. The changed aims involved invading and taking control of the hostile region of south-western Catch and developing into a much stronger alliance. Since leaving Catch in 2006 Huzzah has operated a not-blue-shoot-it policy, reflecting the situation in it's home region of The Syndicate. It no longer has fixed territorial or political aims.

Foundation - The First Genesis

During November 2004 members joined together to carry out operations around Hibi (System) to secure the funding needed to pay CONCORD the alliance bill. By January the bill had been paid and the alliance was formed on 11 January 2005, one of the largest formal alliances around at that time.

With the support of CVA it was possible for alliance members to venture out in Providence. Few took up this opportunity, with most being happy to go about their business in empire space under the banner of a new alliance. Unfortunately for them, those members who were active in 0.0 space drew the attention of a number of unsavoury characters.

Pirate wars - Spring 2005

Due to its anti-pirate stance Huzzah was often fighting various corporations that pirated in or near its space. During the spring of 2005 the alliance spread out in Providence and began to assist CVA with the policing of the entry point into the low-security areas of. Minimal experience meant the alliance members faced a steep learning curve against the experienced local pirates who belonged to corps like The Priory.

Unfortunately, even though they lacked the numbers to defeat the alliance, the pirate corps had the funds to hire mercenaries to attack the nascent alliance. The Corporation and CMS were phenomenally successful against the untrained Federation in empire space and a large proportion of member corps subsequently fled.

Under Josiah Bleak and Zarniewoop, those who remained decided to adapt and reform the alliance with a stronger combat force. Centred on the previously industrial GSY the alliance began to rebuild during the summer of 2005. A number of station structures were set up in Providence and members began to patrol the western Providence pipe with CVA once again.

Autumn 2005 - The Second Genesis

The alliance soon found itself in a series of wars with The Priory and TSBS. A number of experienced paramilitary corporations joined to assist the Federation and both pirate forces eventually moved to different regions, allegedly for their own reasons. During this time the alliance held a presidential election and the new president, Hans Roaming decided to introduce a number of measures he hoped would improve the alliance's combat capability.

Ushra'Khan Wars

At the same time the Federation's mutual defence arrangements with CVA caused the anti-Amarr alliance Ushra'Khan to attack assets in Providence. These attacks were largely inconclusive, as were the retaliatory raids on Ushra'khan space. Eventually the alliance withdrew their war declaration and left Huzzah to ponder its next move.

Invasion of Catch - The Third Genesis

Initial attack

Around this time President Hans Roaming secretly undertook negotiations with Trigger, the leader of Stain Alliance. Stain- Alliance planned to attack Firmus Ixion's FIX assets in south-western, but did not want to be held down trying to hold the stations. Huzzah was offered the opportunity to take over two deep-space stations, an opportunity that would have taken months to achieve through industrial construction efforts alone. Since Huzzah already regarded FIX as hostile due to the activities of its pirate corps on the southern borders of Providence this was accepted as a simple extension of anti-pirating activities by most members.

On 19 December 2005 President Roaming ordered a fleet to form up and deploy a POS structure in V2-VC2. Despite encountering major space turbulence en-route, the small fleet reached the target system and took control of the already-damaged station within an hour while a Stain- Alliance fleet kept the defenders occupied in FAT-6P.

Subsequent efforts to take control of the refinery station in 5-N2EY were unsuccessful over the holiday period, but the system was taken over early in the new year. Huzzah forces moved up to join with Stain and Kaos Empire in FAT-6P and were successful in helping to evict Firmus Ixion from south-western Catch. At this stage Huzzah was still a very small alliance and could not hope to hold a major territory without assistance. Unfortunately some of the more vociferous members of Stain were not aware of this. Band of Brothers (BOB) had stepped in to arbitrate the "dispute" but when FIX did not meet some of Stain's less reasonable terms and conditions Stain decided to attack BOB. This led to an immediate reversal of the strategic situation. With the help of the Mercenary Coalition, the FIX and BOB fleet retook FAT-6P and established a new border zone. However, President Roaming had formed a non-aggression pact with FIX by this stage as Huzzah viewed Stain's actions as dishonourable and unwise.

This remained the status-quo for several weeks. However, with an empire-based economy and extended supply lines stretching 25 jumps Huzzah was unable to strengthen its position in Catch. The route was frequently camped by the same ex-FIX corporations who had caused Huzzah to treat FIX as hostile in the first place. This and the untenable border led to disquiet within the alliance. Hostilities between BOB and Stain fizzled out eventually once cooler heads prevailed and this allowed the alliance leadership to consider further action to secure the newly conquered territory.

The War Against Firmus Ixion

The continued hostilities with ex-FIX corporations performing guerilla operations within Huzzah space encouraged Hans Roaming to re-enter discussions with Stain- Alliance about joint operations. The end result was a surprise attack on FIX assets in FAT-6P over Easter. Hans personally deployed the cyno field which allowed Stain dreadnoughts to enter the system and attack FIX POSs. Although Huzzah leadership had come to the conclusion that FIX were preparing to attack Huzzah, FIX leadership were apparently unprepared for this strike. FAT-6P was quickly taken. FIX consolidated in and Huzzah started reinforcing its position in FAT-6P.

Over the Easter weekend FIX tried to deploy an outpost close to their border with empire space. Due to a miscalculation the construction platform was unable to begin work at the correct time and a Stain scout discovered the structure. Stain and Huzzah forces formed a strike force to break through FIX's protective screen, but found that FIX defences were far stronger than anticipated. Space-time disturbances rendered this operation additionally hazardous, but Stain fleet command went ahead despite the objections of Huzzah leadership. The resulting battle decimated Huzzah's forces and left the alliance in a much weaker position. Subsequently it was not able to assist the coalition as effectively as it might have done otherwise. The construction platform was destroyed by BOB later that night.

Coalition forces moved into Querious to reduce FIX POSs around their refinery stations. Several smaller alliances joined the coalition and FIX was all but forced out of the region. However, at this stage BOB once again stepped in. Unwilling to see a group of small hostile alliances on its doorstep BOB deployed its fleet to 9CG6-H, the FIX home system. Despite some protracted battles the coalition was not militarily strong enough to prevail and withdrew.

Defence of Catch

Since Catch acts as a major highway between regions in the south Huzzah found itself defending against multiple incursions from many different factions. Frequent raiders included Firmus Ixion, BOB, Lotka Volterra,Stain Empire and RAT.

BOB Invasion

The first major invasion was in May 2006 when BOB invaded V2-VC2 with a capital ship fleet. Huzzah had internal problems convincing member corporations to erect POS towers to maintain sovereignty. Consequently BOB found it easy to knock all of Huzzah's existing POSs into reinforced mode. Their own small tower was resistant to Huzzah's non-capital ship fleet. The Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate (IAC) provided some support, but other "allies" were conspicuous by their absence. Consequently BOB were able to take the station. However, BOB apparently had no desire to keep the station and subsequently dismantled their tower, extracted their capital ships and flew away. The only explanation given was that a certain member of Widowmakers corporation had been smack talking on the Galnet forums and this had been taken as an insult worthy of a full-scale assault.

The reprieve enabled Huzzah leadership to force member corporations to set up POSs towers to retain sovereignty of core systems. However, many of the smaller corps were too small to maintain more than one large tower and refused to merge.

A more critical flaw was identified in that Huzzah lacked capital ships. This was difficult to redress due to the lack of trained pilots and a lack of central funding. The leadership debated solutions and identified altering the compensation scheme payouts as the best way to develop a programme. However, President Roaming wanted to keep the scheme so he proposed making regular runs of the local Sansha complexes.

Eastern invasion

With Stain out of the picture Huzzah found that it no longer had capital support. The collapse of Stain- Alliance also enabled Stain Empire to concentrate on other objectives. Their plans appeared to include securing the lucrative Sansha complexes and Huzzah was an obstacle to this. In alliance with RAT and The Collective, an ex-Stain Alliance corporation, Stain Empire attacked V2-VC2 from the east. Although Huzzah was moderately successful in defeating the initial attack, the invaders were able to deploy a large POS tower. Huzzah and IAC deployed capital ships to attack it. This first and last counter-attack failed. For a month the situation remained thus, with the invaders gathering forces while many of Huzzah's smaller corporations found themselves paralysed.

Although IAC and AXIOM (AXE) both sent support fleets at various times, the lack of capital ships meant the invaders were able to erect more towers at will. Eventually they merged to form AAA. This new alliance was able to claim sovereignty and it attacked Huzzah's POSs. Due to the alliance's under-developed industrial system it could not replace losses and defend effectively. This, coupled with the untimely withdrawal of one of the largest corporations just prior to the AAA assault meant that AAA were able to take the station very quickly. They then moved to take FAT-6P and finally 5N-2EY. Huzzah withdrew its assets from Catch and many of the largest and most active corporations merged to form a mega corp, No Quarter.

Huzzah went into hibernation, withdrawing its assets to Hibi and surrounding systems. Those who had formed No Quarter joined AXE to continue the fight against AAA from, but AAA were on a roll and with AXE's traditional ally, Ascendent Frontier, being demolished by BOB the writing was on the wall. No Quarter left for, but its invasion was unsuccessful and it moved north to. This was a step too far too fast for some. Increasingly frustrated by No Quarter's constant migrations and random alliances with traditional enemies, the founding members left to reform Huzzah in January 2007.

Syndicate - The Fourth Genesis

Incursions

Having spent some time in Syndicate under the NOQ banner Huzzah decided to move away from its traditional home in the south. Reforming itself with GSY at the helm once more the alliance started to rebuild itself in Gallente space, staging from Alentene to raid southern Syndicate via Ostingele or Reblier. Initially Huzzah allied with BRUCE, but found their alliance with the Coalition of Empires distasteful.

Huzzah then allied itself with The OSS, The State and, perhaps most surprisingly, The Short Bus Squad. The OSS decided to ally with BRUCE after one too many misconceived raids on PC9-AY so Huzzah subsequently withdrew from that coalition, built stronger ties with EXM and started to recruit new corps while moving from Alentene to PVH8-0.

Syndicate wars

The growing capital fleet allowed Huzzah to expand its influence, conquering valuable moons and spending the profit on new ships. Some moons were granted to Huzzah's local allies. However, the moons drew the attention of larger alliances who challenged Huzzah's hold over them, leading a series of large-scale battles for control of the resources.

After living in PC9-AY for several months in 2008 the alliance briefly tried to install itself in the "SU pocket". This rich pocket had been occupied by various groups in a short space of time and Huzzah found it equally hard to lock down in the face of continual raids. It moved back to PC9 but found the constellation had been occupied by The Red Skull. After a series of 0.0 battles and war-declarations, including the capture of a freighter, The Red Skull and its allies fell apart and abandoned the cluster.

The future

Towards the end of 2008 Huzzah was once again looking to find new sources of income while avoiding the larger intersteller power-plays in the north and south of EVE.

Territory

For the first year of its existence Huzzah lived in southern and south-western, occupying the pipe between TU-R16 and FSW-3C. Following the invasion of Catch, the alliance tried to maintain its control over its old territories whilst expanding around V2-VC2. Having pushed its boundaries further west the alliance took over all of south-western Catch and at its largest extent held sovereignty over more than 20 systems. This territory was too extensive and the alliance split in half, with Providence-based corporations forming a separate alliance to leave Huzzah occupying south-western Catch.

Following the NOQ episode the alliance moved to southern Syndicate, moving from Alentene to 2X-PQG and then to PVH8-0. For most of 2008 it resided in PC9, but can be found all over the region and various areas nearby.

Current status

The Huzzah Federation is very active in lower and mid Syndicate shooting up larger alliances, conquering moons and removing any mothership-shaped obstructions to free space lanes.
