Prenatal History
In late YC95 a small biotech firm was granted funding from Kaalakiota Corporation with the goal of creating a batch of children that could serve as analysts for the Caldari State. The program would eventually be considered a failure, producing less than twenty viable subjects, most of which suffered birth defects and illnesses that led to short and unhappy lives.
The surviving subjects, few as there were, found success. Becoming military and financial analysts, many were fast tracked through advanced education programs, and due to their known genetic compatibility with the Capsule, received early pod training.
Katin Tanamioja was born YC99.04.06 as part of batch #014. Anomalies were noted early into gestation, but were ignored due to the known failings of the program, and the belief that recent alterations to the base would provide trade-offs for the defects, as well as the programs dwindling funds.
Early Life
Tanamioja was born without functioning eyes, and at an abnormally low weight. Requiring direct medical attention, their prognosis was poor for the first year of their life. Their physical development lagged tremendously behind their peers, however their mental development was above baseline for their batch. Initially, they were scheduled for vision augmentation to fully restore their sight, however the decision was made to not fully restore sight in the subject. Their augmentations would process visual stimulus and feed it to their brain directly as non-visual information. This experiment proved successful. Katin quickly learned to read and write, catching up to and quickly surpassing their peers in their assigned creche.
Education
When it became obvious to the researchers that they had produced a successful subject, Katin was transferred to an advanced education facility operated by a Kaalakiota subsidiary. The details of the program remain a closely guarded secret, but are known to be grueling. Focusing on producing capsule compatible and high resilient analysts to serve the interests of the State, the program stretches from early childhood to adulthood, after which a successful candidate will find themselves a Capsuleer.
The program has received criticism for its high cost and low success rate. Many of the graduates simply fall off the map, failing to serve the State as independent Capsuleers as intended by the program. Rates of piracy and sedition are high among graduates, leading to critics to claim that the program fails to properly instill loyalty in subjects, and fosters resentment of duty.
