Description

Legiunea ROmana Alliance was a PVP alliance that was stationed in the Stain and Period Basis Regions. At it's height, it consisted of 15 corporations with a total of 762 players. The core of the alliance was formed by the romanian corps The Fallen Angels Unit [F.A.U], Dracula Order [XMAN] and Rubbish and Garbage Removal [R.U.B]. Other corps that played a significant role in the alliance's existence were Friends of Honor [-FOH-], ROMANIA Renegades [HAOS], Romanian Space Explorer [RSEX], Haita de lupi [LUPU], Shadow Company [SHADO], Endless Destruction [END..] and OUTLAWZ IMMORTAL [OUTIM] (last three are not romanian corps).

Notable figures: teroarea (first alliance leader and fleet commander), Avata Pandora (second alliance leader), Moon Blaze (third alliance leader), Ivan Losjewski (last alliance leader).

Political

Over the course of time, Legiunea ROmana has mantained friendly relationships with most members of Stainwagon, but, after the spring of 2010, it's most notable allies remained Systematic-Chaos and IT Alliance. Traditional enemies are Minor Threat., BricK sQuAD. and ROMANIAN-LEGION [ATAK].

History

Origin

The idea of a strong and united romanian-only political entity in EVE was an old one, but the idea of an alliance started surfacing in various ways and contexts around November 2008. The alliance was founded one week after a meeting was held by various known romanian players. The founding corps are F.A.U., RSEX, LUPU and XMAN, with HAOS and W33D Corp. playing major roles in it's inception and early steering. teroarea was chosen as alliance leader, mainly due to his orientation towards PVP and FCing abilities, sharing duties and powers with a council of directors put forth by the other corps. R.U.B and ROMB. were the first other corps to join the newly-made alliance shortly thereafter.

A Tangible Ideal

Legiunea ROmana was formed as an ideal: to create a romanian-only alliance that would excel at PVP. Due to relations with leading figures within other alliances from the Stainwagon coalition, (most notably [[Kristinne from Systematic-Chaos, the alliance made it's foothold in the Stain regions northern systems, staging out of 1H4V-O[1] and slowly taking control of the other two neighbouring constellations from Minor Threat. [KARMA]. For the first half of it's existence, the Alliance remained a romanian-only entity, residing in Stain and occupying the constellations of R-IZDC[2], WF-OP4[3] and W-ULNA[4]. They became known as part of the Stainwagon coalition, along with C0VEN, Systematic-Chaos and Stain Empire.

Around November 2009, HAOS left Legiunea ROmana after teroarea nearly lost the alliance leadership elections to Avata Pandora, citing the alliance's corp's stagnation and lack of initiative in what concerned moving to a player-held region along with Primary. [WEH8U]. They subsequently joined WEH8U and went to live in Scalding Pass, but still mantained warm relations with ROMAN, although many from within the alliance did not take their departure lightly.

Winds of Change

After the fall of Goonswarm in February 2010, the region of Period Basis came under the control of the Stainwagon coalition, of whom Legiunea ROmana was still an active member. The region was divided between Systematic-Chaos, Legiunea ROmana and IT Alliance, ROMAN holding the constellations of OY3-DM[5] and NOK-FZ[6], as well as the systems of UR-E46[7] and 0-NTIS[8]. A jumpbridge network was established, going through the systems of Z-M5A1[9], PA-VE3[10], E-DOF2[11] and 0-NTIS[12], the main staging system being PA-VE3, whilst the main market hub was in G-Q5JU[13]. This was also the moment when non-romanian corps such as END.., FLUX. and M-X started joining the alliance and when war broke out between C0VEN and Stain Empire on one side and Systematic-Chaos on the other. Avata Pandora tried to mantain friendly relations with both parties, even going as far as trying to reconciliate the two, but it was soon clear that a side needed to be taken, so he opted for SYS-K, the ones who were having the upper hand at the time, even though they were mostly fighting on the defensive.

Tensions Rise

Although the order was given to completely evacuate Stain and move to the newly obtained constellations, not all pilots made that move, most notably pilots from -FOH- as well as some from XMAN and R.U.B, preferring to remain in the system of RPS-0K[14], the closest station system in Stain to Period Basis. This system became an unofficial staging area and market hub for these pilots, as most saw it as the home of the PVP wing of the alliance. This fact did, however, cause tensions between those who remained in Stain and those who moved - the first considering the ones that went to Period Basis as being farmers, the others thinking the stain residents were breacking the unity of the alliance and threatening it's integrity. Not long after the move, Avata Pandora gave up the position of alliance leader, citing real life issues and the inability to play as much as he did before as the main reasons. Elections were held, with the leader of END.. and Moon Blaze being the only two candidates. The later won, as the romanian corps (who still had the majority of players in the alliance at that time) wanted a romanian to lead the alliance. However, due to some decisions such as not allowing the member corps' CEOs to view alliance wallet logs and the taking of high-end moons by the holding corp of the alliance without giving any reasons, the new alliance leader only managed to amplify the already high tensions. One of the breaking points was when he kicked several non-romanian corps, most notably END.., on the grounds that they were preparing a coup to take control of the alliance and kick out all the romanian corps. The second breaking point was after HAOS rejoined ROMAN and made demands to be given some high-end moons, as well as (soon after) the alliance leader position. Moon Blaze was not very popular within the alliance at that time, so teroarea's chance of obtaining the position was solid, but they rushed it and triggered in June 2010 what became known as the Romanian Civil War.

The Romanian Civil War

Attempting to stage a coup by the use of the outdated constitution of Legiunea ROmana (one that had been written during it's inception and disregarded after HAOS left the alliance), teroarea and several other high-profile members of ROMANIA Renegades tried to sway the other romanian corps to give him the reigns of the alliance. This move gained momentum, making RSEX and LUPU turn against Moon Blaze, whilst the other romanian corps were only barely siding with the acting executor. Although reconciliation was attempted to some extend, the conflict lead to the three corps getting kicked and joining the already formed alliance of ROMANIAN-LEGION [ATAK] - the english version of the romanian Legiunea (legion) ROmana (romanian) -, making it clear that the whole move was though up in advance and no reconciliation would have been possible. Fighting broke out immediately, with both sides proclaiming the other will fall within two weeks. ATAK moved to Stain, staging from the system of RPS-0K[15], the same system that was used by the more pvp-oriented pilots of ROMAN. Hence, fighting occured there for the lenght of the EU TZ or until one side managed to get a bigger/more powerful fleet than the other and started camping the station.

This situation did not endure, though, as teroarea quickly established friendly relations with the remaining members of the Stainwagon coalition and brokered a deal to move to their space in the region of Esotheria, namely the constellation of AJG-MV[16], coming to Stain only on roaming trips, as they did with Period Basis.

A Will Lost

The coup had also achieved it's goal. After multiple rushed decisions, such as a general mobilization order for the whole alliance to move to RPS-0K in one day, Moon Blaze had lost both the support and the will to lead Legiunea ROmana. Lacking a counter-candidate, the next executor became Ivan Losjewski, the first non-romanian to lead the alliance. He sought to strenghten the relationships between ROMAN and other friendly entities, most notably IT Alliance and Systematic-Chaos, which had grown pretty cold due to Moon Blaze's neglect of external affairs. However, due to health issues in real life he had to step down as alliance leader after a few months, leaving ROMAN to be merged into Systematic-Chaos without the prior council or consent of most of the corps that were in the alliance at that time, yet the only corp that did not go with what the executor had decided was Shadow Company [SHADO], whilst the rest did with, more or less, resentment. Initially, the corps were told that they would be considered full members of SYS-K after the merger, but after the move was completed they were given the status of trial members.

A quiet death

The alliance name was left to be held by one of Ivan Losjewski's characters and dropped entirely after the three romanian corps that were left did not pass the trial period in Systematic-Chaos, signaling the end of what had been the first romanian pvp alliance to set foot and live in sovereign 0.0 space.

Successors

Legiunea ROmana has spawned two other romanian-led alliances, both spiritual-successors in an equal measure to the ideals on which Legiunea ROmana was created on: ROMANIAN-LEGION [ATAK] and Bang Bang You're Dead [STF].
