This Noctis is the dedicated salvage ship to enter the EVE universe and was designed by Outer Ring Excavations (ORE) which is well known for the Orca. The Noctis was designed to take the place of destroyers which players have been fitted for salvage operations thoughout the EVE universe. The Noctis allows a combination of salvagers and tractor beams to be used and with its 1,460m cargohold by default allows for defensive modules to be installed to help defend the ship such as a damage control.
The Noctis was added to the EVE Universe during the first patch of the Incursion expansion which was deployed on Tuesday 30th November 2010 during downtime.
