Valerie Vynneve (b. YC92) is a capsuleer best known for being a founding member of the Intaki Diaspora, a loose capsuleer confederation active in the Placid region of the Gallente Federation.

Early life and education

Valerie Vynneve was born in orbit of Oursulaert VI, a storm planet, aboard the Chemal Tech Research Center where her father Oreste Vynneve was lead engineer.

At the age of twelve Vynneve's parents enrolled her in a boarding middle school on the Duvolle Laboratories Research Center in orbit of Moon 3 of Oursulaert VII, a gas planet considered to be the capital of the Oursulaert system due to the concentration of stations there. She graduated as Valedictorian four years later.

Vynneve is then briefly recorded as atending a preparatory school in Caille, but for reasons unknown she transferred to a feeder school for the Center for Advanced Studies at the CAS headquarters in orbit of Cistuvaert V-12, where she graduated as Salutatorian in YC110. She then progressed to university at CAS Cistuvaert, where she graduated with a major in mechanical engineering and a minor in anthropology in YC114 before joining the CAS' four-year capsuleer training programme.

She completed capsuleer training in YC119, a year behind her intake class.

Capsuleer career

Providence (YC119-20)

Shortly after being licensed as a capsuleer, Vynneve vas recruited into Dawn of a New Horizon [NEWHR], an anti-pirate corporation belonging to the Provibloc coalition led by Curatores Veritatis Alliance [CVA]. She would end up staying in Providence until the end of YC120.

The sack of Providence

The first half of her stay roughly coincided with an invasion of Providence by Pandemic Legion and others. Vynneve has described this period as a "baptism of fire".

A corporation in disarray

NEWHR's inspirational leader, a capsuleer going by the callsign of Psignosis, was prone to taking long leaves of absence with some regularity. Soon after the PL/NC invasion of Providence started he put the corporation in the charge of his trusted lieutenants. After a month or so, this resulted in the new leadership spinning off to form Black Flame Corporation and joining the Apocalypse Now alliance, also within Provibloc. With Pandemic Legion taking control of half the systems in Providence and all but one station in the rest, NEWHR was forced to relocate to high-security space in the Domain region. The combination of the corporation split and the eviction from Providence was a heavy blow to morale but the corporation bounced back. By May, NEWHR held sovereignty in three systems in the 2V pocket of Providence. However, as a small alliance NEWHR fell on the wrong side of the final territorial division of Providence by CVA among its allies. Deprived of its own space, NEWHR leadership decided to join the Care Factor alliance. This necessitated the third wholesale move of the whole corporation in as many months, causing further loss of morale. Shortly thereafter, the CEO of NEWHR disappeared completely without handing over his role, leaving the corporation in an ungovernable state.

Leadership

When the corporation split in February YC120 and the rump loyal to Psignosis moved to Domain, Vynneve jumped on the opportunity to become industry officer, a bold move for a capsuleer with barely three months of experience. She would prove instrumental in outfitting the fast-growing corporation for its operations harassing PL/NC and eventually taking sovereignty in the 2V pocket.

Transition year (YC120-1)

Winding down

When Psignosis disappeared the rest of NEWHR's leadership decided to leave and join DIC.S, another corporation within the Care Factor alliance. Vynneve, however, stayed behind to manage the transition and help lingering members. Eventually, as it became increasingly clear Psignosis might never return, Vynneve undertook to wind down NEWHR orderly. "The last person to leave should turn off the lights, and at some point I resolved that should be me", is how she describes it. By the turn of YC121, with only two other active capsuleers in the corporation, the time came to pull the plug.

Moving to Syndicate

After winding down NEWHR Vynneve instructed her legal counsel, a caldari capsuleer by the name of Mimiko Kasenumi, to create Dusk of the Old Horizon [OLDHR] as a successor corporation. She then left Providence for Syndicate, where she settled in the JQV5-9 pocket producing planetary commodities with Rancid Chickens [RANCK].

Ravencroft Academy

When NEWHR was evicted from Providence by the PL/NC invasion of YC120, it anchored an Astrahus citadel in the Jarshitsan system of the Domain region. This was initially named Manifest Destiny. At the end of May the structure was renamed Ravencroft Academy to honour the memory of Felyx Ravencroft, a capsuleer friend of NEHWR who suffered permanent death, a rare event for capsuleers.

When NEWHR started disbanding in the Summer of YC120, ownership of Ravencroft Academy was transferred to DIC.S, which eventually led to the station becoming red to Provibloc as DIC.S moved to Catch and joined the Legacy coalition. This became a sore point as it was contrary to the NRDS ethos of the station's namesake. In addition, the station fell into disuse for months as it was too far away from the DIC.S area of operation.

Vynneve reacquired control of Ravencroft Academy in October YC121. She considers herself "more a steward than an owner" of the structure. She keeps it in operation to honour Felyx Ravencroft, and for the benefit of NEWHR alumni, NRDS capsuleers, and Provibloc members.
